Every March and September, the Hilton Fire Department offers a Recruit Training Course for new members. The course runs every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM for 11 weeks and covers all of the topics that a recruit needs to know to contribute and stay safe when responding to a variety of different calls.

• Proper donning of turnout gear
• SCBA usage and safety features
• Various apparatuses and equipment
• Radio communications
• Mayday procedures
• Hydrants and water supply
• Hose lines and fire attack
• Ground ladders
• Motor vehicle stabilization and victim extrication
• CPR

If you're interested in joining the department, get your application in sooner rather than later to reserve your spot. The course is capped at 6 students, plus you will need to pass an interview with members of the Recruitment and Retention Committee and a physical exam by the department physician before starting the course.
