Mutual Aid to Brockport on May 4th, 2025
Hilton volunteer firefighters jumped out of bed at 7:30 Sunday morning to aid our neighbors in Brockport. There was a 2-alarm structure fire and the Bergen, Hamlin, Hilton, Murray, and Spencerport fire departments were called in to assist.
Rapid Intervention Crew
Hilton was assigned to be the Rapid Intevention Crew (RIC), so we sent engine 263 and 6 of our finest to the scene. As the RIC, our responsibility is to bring manpower and equipment and standby in case another firefighter issues a mayday. If that happens, it is the RIC's job to go in and rescue them while the rest carry on with fire suppression. We act as lifeguards on the fire ground.

Fill-In
With most of their trucks and personnel committed to fighting a fire like this, departments don't have much left over should another incident happen within their district, so they call a neighboring district to fill-in. We lent our ladder truck, 260, and a company of firefighters to staff Brockport's station and respond to any other calls that might come in. Fortunately, it was an otherwise quiet morning.
